Alrighty Folks . . . As a way of saying both Merry Xmas and also
thanks to all of you for your support and patronage over the last 8
years, we've got a couple of Special Xmas Songs we'd like to give you
all (download them at will below). Spread them around. Tis
the season, so they say . . .
Have a good New Year and we'll see you all in 2009.
This is a short (6
minute) documentary movie of the origins of Hayseed Dixie and
Rockgrass. In the music business, everybody these days is expected to
have what is called an EPK (short for Electronic Press Kit). That
means, instead of mailing out a cardboard folder with a biography page,
8 x 10 pictures, and clippings of press that say how great the band is,
everybody these days is expected to send out a DVD which includes a
biography, cool still pictures suitable for printing, and press
clippings which say how great the band is. Anyway, this is our
interpretation of the whole "EPK" genre. It's a good story.
Ace of Spades video
Here's the video we
shot (we did it all ourselves and edited it on a PowerMac G4 laptop)
for our first UK / Scandinavian single. Unfortunately, it's not
released in the US and Canada yet; in the UK / Europe the song is on
the album "Let There Be Rockgrass."
Controversy:
This poster design,
reproduced for you in JPEG form by clicking the link below, was an
attempt by Barley Scotch & the Hayseed Dixie boys to put their own
unique slant on the promotion of responsible alcohol use. They were
heartbroken when the alcohol industry (among others) scorned their
efforts. "I can't see why they didn't want to use it on every billboard
in the country," says Barley Scotch. "Hell, this poster's HONEST!"
